Happy 17th Anniversary to Us!

After being married for 17 years, we know that it's less important to celebrate the day but every day that follows. On that note, we ended up celebrating our wedding anniversary 2 weeks after the actual day with a themed fine dining dinner at Preludio called "Chapter 2: Time".

This was definitely one of the most memorable dinners particularly because the theme was so appropriate for us that it gave me goosebumps. Having dinner at 6.30PM certainly helped since it was early enough that we were the only ones in the restaurant for the first half of our meal. The food courses were a visual feast that made you internally ooh and aah like a nerd while you try to match what the waitress explained with what your palate was sampling.

The "Time Machine" was hands-down our favourite part of the meal with all the different textures and flavours packed into such a tiny bite.

11 Years and Counting!

Beer, sausage, pork knuckle, lovely ambiance and a good-looking date to boot!
What a happy way to kick off 2015! Though technically, our anniversary falls on the the 31st of December, we typically spend it with family then have our date night on the evening of January 1st. This evening, we checked out a quaint German restaurant called Stuttgart Blackforest Cafe serving traditional German fair. Len's been driving past this place almost every weekday and he's been dying to try it out.

Since we were coming off a whole season of binge eating, I thought it would be sensible for us to share. Of course, Len had his doubts but decided there would be no harm in yielding since we could always order more! We had tomato soup, pork knuckle with additional sides of sausage and potato salad. Of course, no German meal would be complete without beer.

He looks so pleased!
We rounded it off with a slice of Blackforest cake which came with cherries that were extra boozey!

Even though we weren't in any particular rush, we somehow managed to have a leisurely meal, nice conversation, and be home by 9ish! (Perhaps I was subconsciously preparing for an early start the next morning since it was a school day.. first day of school for Zac no less!)

A Decade With You

Taken in Disneyland in December 2013

Happy 10th wedding anniversary Len.

10 years ago, we said our 'I dos' in the chapel at Barker Road Methodist Church. I still remember our vows and my promise to you to follow you wherever you may go, and follow I have and will. I am so grateful for your love, honour and respect you've shown through your words and deeds. You have made married life fun and fulfilling for me and have also allowed me to be the kind of mother I want to be for my children. For all this, I want to say THANK YOU!

I hope our bond will grow stronger in the coming years and that we always remember that love is a verb, a deliberate act of the heart as well as of the mind. May God continue to work His power in us and in our marriage so that we can grow into our full potential in the years to come.

I love you!

Happy Anniversary Babe!

It's been 9 years since we said 'I do' and I'd certainly and gladly do it all over again.

It's the day before our actually wedding anniversary but we're going on our date early so I can cook Nana's shepherd's pie on New Year's Eve and celebrate with the rest of the clan. Len made reservations at Mozza and I'm excited to try a new place! I'm still suffering a little from gastric flu so I'm nauseous and crampy and giddy. Hopefully I'll be alright through dinner.

Happy Boy

7th Wedding Anniversary

Us on our way out for our anniversary dinner.

We went to My Little Spanish Place at Coronation for a nice dinner for 2. Having a night out on our own is a luxury that we never take for granted. It almost NEVER happened when we were in Spain and though we have great babysitters now that we're back in Singapore, we hardly ever go out on our own in the evenings since bedtimes are easier if we're around.

The restaurant food made us feel nostalgic and miss Spain even more than we already do. Len and I agree we should try and travel a little this year if we can afford it!

Welcome 2011!

7 years ago, this day, I said 'I do' to my Mr. Right-For-Me. I look back everyday and thank God that he brought Len into my life.

For Len: Honey, without you, life wouldn't be half as delicious, amazing, beautiful or complete. I'm grateful for every moment we're given to be together and look forward to walking through the rest of my life holding your hand.

Can you believe we've been married for 6 years?! I can't. Here's to many many more years of big laughs and loads of good lovin'. Here's lookin' at you babe. XXOO

Celebrating Nearly 1 Year!

With Zac's 1st birthday drawing near, I'm also celebrating my nearly 1-year-long experience with breastfeeding! I have to admit that I had some reservations about how well I'd handle it especially with all the possible complications and problems that could arise. However, I'm thankful that both Zac and I have been able to have a relatively trouble-free experience. To date, my boy measures at 76cm tall and weighs in at 9.2kg.He's a really good eater but seems to have decided that he's not really into having milk during the day. The solution? Mix the milk into his cereals and porridge!

Once we settle down in Spain, I'm hoping to get Zac on either formula or whole cow's milk but since he still nurses for comfort after sun-down, I think this whole process might take a while. We've already tried giving him Nan and Enfalac but he'd take 2 sips and refuse anymore. He's even started to refuse the bottle even with breastmilk in it even though he'd take it before! I've given the other brands a ring for some samples to try out. If the formula doesn't work for him, I might give whole milk a shot once he's past his 1st birthday (as most paeds seem to recommend). Perhaps the refusing the bottle might be a blessing since it might be better if I migrate to using a cup right away. We'll just have to wait and see.

Even though breastfeeding was pretty smooth-sailing, it was not without some inconveniences (albeit less than if I bottle fed I think). I had to make sure I was wearing the right clothing when we went out, I'd always have to wear breast pads, leaks in the first few months were a very regular occurance especially at night, and the lack of sleep everynight from night-time nursings were soul-sapping. Still, I'll miss the closeness I get to enjoy with the munchkin and that unique role I have that no one else could play.

For my own future reference and for those people who are still on this journey with their babies, here are some places with nursing rooms around Singapore.

Happy Anniversary!

Len and I celebrate our anniversary today. Not our wedding one but the "going steady" one. (I wonder if people still use that term.) It's been 8 years since we first started going out and it's such a wonderful thing to still be able to do that even now.

Happy Anniversary Len-babe! Cheers to many more years of good lovin'.

Happy 4th Anniversary

To celebrate 4 years of good-lovin', Len and I went to Sebastien's (my first time even though it's right down the road from where we live) for dinner.

We did take a picture at the restaurant which would have been more post-worthy but I decided that my cleavage (one of the benefits of breastfeeding) was shouting for way too much attention in that shot. Let's keep this blog PG shall we?
