"Pretend Vacation" Lunch

It's high noon and the only time of day you're guaranteed that no one else is going to be at the pool so we packed up our lunch and decided to pretend we were on vacation somewhere.

It was blindingly bright out but it was very comfortable at the table under the giant umbrellas. Zac made pizza bread and I prepped salad and a few other accompaniments.

Think we all liked the change of scenery and that we were doing something outside of our usual routine. I find myself getting boxed in by routine and The Schedule so making the mundane special really shakes things up and slows things down enough to appreciate where we are now.

Busy as a Bee

While reading my favourite blog-of-the-moment ohdeedoh, I came across their entry about keeping a toddler amused during the day. As most already know, I've been trying to figure out what I can do with Zac during the day to keep things fun and stimulating for the both of us. I've seen a couple of other sites but usually it's stuff that's a little too simple to keep this busy bee interested for long.

The blog entry about Instructables.com's list of 24 things to do with your toddler is a mixture of oldies and a couple of new ideas I'm going to try with Zac. I'm particularly excited about trying some of the craft ideas like making my own lift-the-flap-book and magnets with people's faces. Clever.

Candy for kids (minus the cavities)

I've been hooked on Daily Candy, a daily lifestyle e-zine that I chanced upon while surfing the Net way back when I was sans baby and sans hubby. It serves up the latest covetables you'll need (or want) to look gorgeous, have fun and eat well. So what if most of the newsworthy must-buys and must-tries are based State-side? A simple click-click of your mouse will give you access to their websites so you can partake in that little piece of retail heaven wherever you are.

What's this got to do with me now that I am with-baby and with-hubby? The newly launched
kids version is chock-full of fun stuff for the little people in our lives. Whether you end up spending some moo-lah or minutes on the to-do of the day, you can certainly be sure you won't be tearing your hair out trying to keep the natives from getting restless.
