Happy Birthday to Us!

It's nice that Len and I have birthdays a day apart - his on Feb 2nd and mine on the 1st. He likes to say that if he wakes up and it's his birthday but he's forgotten mine, he's screwed. *grin*

This year's cake (courtesy of Yiyi Mel and Kenneth Ah Tio) was from Vicky's. Much creamier than their competitors' and also a tad more expensive, I'm told, it makes for a sinfully decadent pre-bedtime snack. We had to make sure the little ones were already asleep before we took a crack at this yummy block of chocolatey goodness.

Zac now gets his hair cut at the $10 QB House hair shop at Bukit Timah Plaza. Up till now, he's not been fond of having his hair trimmed by anyone but me. We had to get his hair fixed (I was a little bit too shaver happy) one time and I was certain he'd flip at having to sit in the barber chair. Imagine my relief when he happily plopped himself onto the seat and sat there without wriggling for the duration of the trim!

Seems special thanks should go to Tom and Jerry (his latest favourite cartoon)!

I think the tag line for a petrol kiosk that goes along the lines of "Pump and Save" applies to me. I'm starting to believe that this time around, I'm actually making more milk than when Zac was still on the boob. Judging from the cheeks and how Eli is filling out, my milk is certainly being put to good use. The freezer is starting to fill up like a milk bank. I wonder if I'll have to invest in a stand-alone freezer just for the milk alone!

Bathroom Antics

This is what happens when you leave your three-year-old in the bathroom on his own for too long.

Morning

I woke up this morning with a wet T-shirt and 2 boys in my bed who weren't Len!

We've hit 34 Weeks ALREADY!?!

I can't believe it. It feels like this pregnancy is zooming past and we haven't really begun to feel prepared! This is all probably largely due to the fact that Zac keeps me on the go and my mind on other things. It only occurred to me that our next addition will be arriving in a few weeks when I was updating my calendar with the upcoming gynae appointments. After next Saturday, my appointments will be every week. We're fast-tracking now!

I'm getting more and more tired now that we're in our last stretch. Zac's been ill a lot recently and is home sick with the flu (again) though he seems to thoroughly enjoy not having to be in school. It's hard to slow down since I want to make sure I'm prepared for the Christmas season and things are all in place for the littler one. Though he'll likely be using Zac's old stuff, I have bought a few new clothes and am in the process of sewing somethings for him. We'll see how those turn out since I'm a newbie to this whole homemade stuff. If things turn out well, I'll post pictures.

On a separate note, Zac said something really funny to me this morning...

Zac: Look mummy, my tummy is getting bigger and bigger. I cannot carry Lionel.
Me: Really? Is it because you ate too much?
Zac: No, because I have an Eli. Later, get better I can carry Lionel.
Later mummy get better can carry me.
Me: (Laugh) Alright babe.

Photo Boothing

Climbing into a cramped little photo booth (the kind you take passport photos in) is not my idea of a good time given my very pregnant state. Still, it's good fun trying to get just the right shot of all 3 of us and it's been something we've been doing since we were in Spain.

This time, we decided to try the fancy borders instead of the straight-forward family picture but the selection was a little on the cheeseballs side. Would you believe this was the least cheesy of the lot? I do have to admit that all 3 of us look pretty decent (with no half-closed eyes, weird expressions or blurriness). Success!

I think my boy's photography hit rate is improving. He's been experimenting with my Fujifilm Finepix Z with some success. He still sticks his finger in front of the lens but knows now to adjust his grip and steady his hand. Here are some of what he's taken so far:

Me (looking at ad with silhouette of raised hands against light): "Oh! No darling they're hands. They look a whole lot like trees don't they?"
Zac (thoughtfully): "Tree hands!"

Yup. He calls pomelo "po-le-mo". It's his first time trying this fruit and of course, it started with a "plech, don't like id" then it became a staple post-dinner treat.
