Life is full of ups and downs and right now I'm walking through a valley. All 4 of us have been sick this past 2 weeks with Len being the first, then me and then the little ones. I have been so busy of late that I only just notice the blues creeping up on me.
My good friend Ele told me that it's not unusual to feel somewhat depressed after a bout of flu. Coupled with my boys being ill, not getting enough sleep, worrying to death about my breastmilk supply and my mum being sick too, it's all been wearing me thin. To add to all this, Len is flying to Greece tonight and won't be home until Monday!
Ordinarily, I would be the first to jump for joy and praise the Lord for a wonderful opportunity for Len but I have to say I'm not all that chuffed. I feel like I'm going to be without my right hand this weekend and that's rough. The depression bit has me feeling a tad resentful but I push these thoughts to the back of my mind and try to push forward. I'm weary and feel like a weight is resting on me. I think a big portion of what's getting me down is Eli refusing to nurse these past 4 days. I've always been able to rely on breastfeeding to comfort and nourish my babies but this time around I can't seem to and it's making me stressed out.
When I'm backed into a corner like this however, I feel God talking and comforting me. He tells me that He will be my shield and during this time when I feel like there's nothing I can do to make this situation better, He will be my provider. Praise God for these tough journeys.
