Happy Birthday Len!

It's Mr P's 40th birthday!

Leading up to his birthday, I was getting ridiculously stressed out trying to figure out how to throw a big ol' birthday bash to celebrate the big four-oh. I was getting a little loopy and was losing some sleep debating on the best way to make this man of mine feel the love.

Because he is my best friend and the one person who wouldn't judge me, I broke and expressed how stressed out I was feeling. I knew it was the right thing to do because he turned to me with that look of utter love and told me that he already knew how loved he was and no party would ever be able to express it any better. Besides, he didn't fancy the idea of a huge shin-dig with him at the center of it all. He would much rather spend a quiet evening with family, hanging out in our pyjamas. At that, my poor constricted heart was put at ease and I gave myself permission not to throw myself into the chaos of party-planning.

I am always grateful for the man I married because no one else would do. God knew what I needed in my life and gifted me with someone I could grow up and grow old with.

Love you babe!

Happy Birthday to ME!

How lucky am I?
God is good, all the time and all the time, God is good. I have been so very blessed these 35 years and my life has been full of the evidence of God's work. Though I am still a work in progress and there is much I need to learn, I know that as I allow my heart to be changed day by day, God is faithful in completing the good work He's begun in my life.

It's taken me a long time to get to this point of enjoying the person that I am. Sure, the hang ups are still there and there are some quirks and kinks that need to be ironed out but in all my years, I think I'm happiest now. Surrounded with people I love and work I enjoy, I've come to know who I am a little better. My prayer now is to slowly but surely grow into the woman in Proverbs 31 with each passing year.

The Woman Who Fears the Lord
10A wife of noble character who can find?
    She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
    and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
    all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
    and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
    bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
    she provides food for her family
    and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
    out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
    her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
    and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
    and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
    and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
    for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
    she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
    where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
    and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
    she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
    and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
    and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
    her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
    but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
    but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
    and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
